What Do More Than 60% of Workers Say About the Amount of Feedback They Receive?
How to provide effective and more immediate feedback
Finding the perfect balance between the frequency and type of feedback workers want and that they receive is a constant challenge for managers, human resource professionals, and supervisors.
Recent research seems to indicate that quantity may be even more important than quality.
That’s not true, of course. Quality always matters. But a study sponsored by management consulting firm Eagle Hill Consulting found that a full 63% of workers they questioned indicated that they “want more immediate ‘in the moment’ feedback on their work performance.”
The study revealed many other aspects of how employers currently provide feedback to workers, including the finding that nearly half (48%) receive feedback only once or twice a year, while a disheartening 8% “never receive feedback on their work.”
In the human resources and management fields, one of the most important questions, especially in a time of historically low unemployment, must be how to keep their employees and colleagues engaged and supported at work.
