I hear you mate and you raise some very sensible questions.

I had a work ‘friend’ years ago who was pathologically possessed by the Green eyed monster and following a string of failed/toxic relationships, and with the encouragement of ‘others’, he finally decided to suppress his ego and seek external help. His life turned around 360 degrees for the better in due course.

I accept there are people too far gone to be that self-aware to identify they even have a problem or pursue action or to even take the advice of the numerous people they may have hurt along the way.
