Some of the most common myths about meditation can prevent people from enjoying the practice
As a practice that stems back to the BCE years, meditation has firmly found its place in modern society. You may be drawn toward to bring more happiness to your life. Or, perhaps it calls to you at bedtime when you need to unwind to achieve a restful night’s sleep.
Whatever your reasons for considering meditation, it’s important to make yourself aware of the myths surrounding it. Not having an awareness of those myths can make the practice harder than it needs to be. As a result, you could feel frustrated, give up, and miss out on its benefits.
Myth 1: Your Mind Must Remain Empty
Try not to view meditation as an activity where you must empty your mind altogether. While the aim is to relax and still your mind, complete emptiness is a form of perfection you can’t strive for. If you start aiming for an entirely silent mind, you’re likely to make the meditative experience more stressful than helpful.
