One of my favorite late public intellectuals said it best :

"The United States was founded by the brightest people in the country — and we haven't seen them since."

It's so sad to see your beloved country suffer unnecessarily.

In Australia, it's compulsory to vote. Which obviously means you can lodge a null vote if you choose to, but everyone MUST vote whenever elections arise. If you don't vote, you're issued with a fine.

To this day, I remain baffled that only 50% of U.S citizens vote.
