Queen Elizabeth II reigned for seventy years, making her the UK’s longest-serving monarch. For most people in the UK and worldwide, she was simply The Queen and the only queen they had ever known.

The phrase “things will never be the same again” accurately reflects what many people felt when they heard the sad news. But the loss of the familiar, reassuring face of Queen Elizabeth will be only one change that the people of the UK face. There will also be many other changes on the horizon. Here are ten of the changes that will occur following Queen Elizabeth’s death.

1. The Wording of the National Anthem Changes

For people who have been singing “send her victorious” for seventy years, it will take a while to get used to the changes in the wording of the national anthem. The UK now has a king rather than a queen. Consequently, God Save the Queen becomes God Save the King, and the pronouns used in the national anthem become him rather than her.
